For example, this is the time of year when people are most active in the gym and in managing their health. As a marketer, you should be thinking of ways to tilt your message to fit the new attitude of the consumer. If you’re in the health industry it’s simpler, but if you’re in something like the food industry which has an indirect tie in, then there’s no better time to bring to light the health benefits of your products.

    Spring and Summer Holidays

    This is an opportunity that’s open to almost all industries. There’s Mother’s Day and Memorial Day in the spring, and summer brings so much more when it comes to both official holidays and people just wanting to get away. Direct mail marketing is a great way to get personal with targets and make them offers that fit with their vacationing or holiday goals. This is applicable for businesses ranging from hotels and car rentals, to those who offer some kind of home security. There will obviously be a lot of competition, so you’ll still need to be convincing in your mailings. Postcards may be a good fit for this kind of campaign.

    Outdoor Activities

    For those cities in which spring and summer represent drastic climate shifts into much warmer weather, being outdoors means everything. But you don’t have to be a theme park to get in on the opportunity. Think outdoor furniture, summer clothing, cottage trips, even physical training habits change during these months. Again, you’ll have to be clever and discover unique ways to entice your targets, but the possibilities are endless.

    The exciting thing for marketers about the change in seasons is that direct mail can be used in so many ways. You can play around with colors that more accurately match the warm seasons. The copy can reflect the good weather, and for those who are thinking outside the box, it may be a good idea to incorporate smell or touch into your mailings. Incorporating those other senses is a great way to engage your consumer on a deeper level and nothing says spring like the new scents.
